Monica Trinidad (she/they) is a queer Latine visual artist and cultural strategist. A lifelong Chicagoan, they are a founding member of Brown and Proud Press (2012), For The People Artists Collective (2015), and The Lit Review Podcast (2017), three former Chicago-based projects experimenting with the power of cultural organizing and storytelling for social change. She is currently an active member of Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative, and supported the formation of a newly emerging network called Artists for Radical Imagination. Through mixed-media illustrations and prints, Monica’s creative practice supports activists and organizers working to reimagine and build a more just world. Their work has been on display in museums, magazines, community spaces, pop-up exhibits at direct actions, rallies, in her loved ones’ homes, and on the cover of a New York Times’ bestseller on abolition—We Do This Til’ We Free Us. When they’re not making art, they’re leading strategic communications at Third Wave Fund, a by-and-for community fund resourcing gender justice movements across the US with both rapid response and multi-year support.
